gathered a list of needed parts, along with prices and online vendors. Mapped out rough logic needed to make GPS lock box function.
Ordered some parts
Looked at home for parts needed. Found VFD for displaying coordinate info. Got VFD to function with Arduino->wrote some sample code to get it to work.
GPS, reversible solenoid come in.
Went to Mendelson's->got metal box
solenoid tested-> need to order new parts
project page edited and formatted. Mapping out holes and areas to cut on the box to install components.
VFD mounted on front of box.
Got GPS module working-> now fomatting the output->need to order jumper wires, and Arduino Mega 2650
Jumper wires, pins, bread board, battery connector arrives->Programs for VFD and GPS now combined, and clean up a bit. VFD and GPS now wired using jumper wires. Wiring needs cleaned up.
Implementation of swich to turn off VFD.

retool methods for sending data to VFD, last touches on programming. Creation of demo video, and presentation.
