In 1913, Hahn bought a farmstead on the Lamstedter Heath upon which he intended to establish his country seat. On this page, I will be posting information on the Hahn's long-running interest in moor cultivation, the purchase and plans for the estate, and its symbolic importance, both for Hahn personally and as an example of the "feudalization of the bourgeoisie".

Herr Heinz-Christian Gresens, whose grandfather purchased Haneworth from the Hahn estate, maintains the Gut today as a stable and stud farm. http://www.haneworth.de/index.html In the spring of 2008, he was kind enough to entertain me, show me around the estate, and share the Hausbuch concerning the construction of the house that Diederich Hahn kept. I have mounted some of the photographs of Haneworth taken during that visit on a Flickr site.
